Trading and C&C > Turret Proxy To Open communication (TPO) > Conference Modes > Usage

Let's start from a trading floor containing nine traders. Each trader of the room can, at a given time, join a single TPO call to a distant party.

The room is divided into two groups of traders (two work spaces). You can think of two main tables with traders facing each other. The traders inside each group usually talk to (and hear) each other, but traders from different groups don't. This may be due to the distance between tables, a light wall dividing the room, or even the two groups being different building rooms.

Let's say that all traders are currently in the same TPO call.

Clearly, Trader1 does not want to hear (in the call) any of his colleagues who are in the same group (traders 2, 3 and 4) as he already hears them directly. But he still wants to hear the traders from the other group (traders 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9).

The Geographical Conference Mode allows having this distinction.

1.First, a physical map of the trading floor is configured (see TSS Configuration). This map places each trader's turret at a specific X and Y position. In this example, Trader1's turret is located at the position immediately at the left of Trader2, Trader2 is 3 positions at the left of Trader5, and so on. The gap (i.e. two empty rows) is what separates the two groups.

2.Then, the TPO configuration (see TPO configuration) is set to limit the turret's proximity to 3 units.

From Trader1's perspective, he only hears traders whose turrets are at least 3 units away; in that case: Trader5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. In other words, the turrets that are outside the blue circle below:

From Trader4's perspective, the result is the same:

From Trader7's perspective, he only hears traders whose turrets are more than 3 units away; in his case: Trader1, 2, 3 and 4:
