The system allows defining several phone extensions in a call key (shortcut). Thus, a user call key (extension or contact type) always contain: •a primary phone extension that is mandatory; •optionally one or several alternate phone extensions.
Each of these phone extensions can have a label associated to it (i.e. alternate labels).
When placing an outbound call with a call key, the call always uses the key's primary extension, unless the user explicitly chooses one of the alternates.
This feature allows the system, when placing an outbound call from a call key (without choosing a specific extension), to automatically try each of the key's phone extensions until one could finally be reached. Every time a phone extension is unreachable (busy, not registered), or does not answer after a certain amount of time, the system switches to the next one (if any) and calls it.
