Without Domain

Introduction

This section describes how to configure replication when servers are not in Windows Domain and database management system is Microsoft SQL Server.

Create SQL user

•Connect to secondary server with SQL Server Management Studio

•In Object Explorer pane, right click on ServerName > Security > Logins and select New Login...

•Enter login name: sqlrepl

•Select option: SQL Server authentication

•Enter password and confirm it

•Uncheck option: Enforce password policy

•Select page Server Role (in left pane) and check role sysadmin

•Press OK button

Credentials for publisher

During publisher creation wizard enter following parameters for security settings :

•Set option Run under the SQL Server service account (This is not recommended security best practice)

•Press OK button

Credentials for subscriber

During subscriber creation wizard enter following parameters for security settings :

•Set option Run under the SQL Server service account (This is not recommended security best practice)

•Set option Using the following SQL Server login and mention information relative to user created previously (sqlrepl)

•Press OK button
