A configured DMR AIS gateway doesn't work by itself, it must have TPO Places using it.

To be able to use a DMR AIS place and give turret user access to it, you must also create a TPO Line in the cluster (registered or not).

The actual extension you use for it has no impact on the functionality, you just have to make sure it is unique. Turrets use the TPO line extension to subscribe to the place, like for classic DDI lines.

TPO Place configuration

The fields in a DMR AIS place are very similar to a RingdownDynamic place, the only difference being that you have to select which DMR AIS gateway to use, and which Dispatcher will be associated to the place.

Slots configuration

Slots for talk groups

The next step is to associate talk groups to slots.

First, select the slot range in the "Virtual Slot Extensions" field and click on "Apply".

Click on the "Search" button. Talk groups with a specific label can be filtered. Only talk groups not yet associated to a slot are listed.

To associate a talk group to a slot, simply drag and drop the group on the slot.

Some slots can be left empty. They will be useful to handle private/individual calls (point-to-point calls) or to make calls using the TPO line.

Slots for individual radio calls

Slots not associated to a talk group, and not yet in use (free slots) are useful to make new outgoing individual calls (point-to-point) to a specific radio user and to receive incoming individual calls.

These "free" slots can also be used to handle calls on the TPO line extension, like for a classic DDI sharing line.

As the target of incoming individual calls is the dispatcher line, and as this dispatcher line can be shared between different DMR AIS places, the TPO will try to find one free slot in all places linked to this dispatcher.

To make sure a turret user does not miss an incoming individual call, this turret user needs either :

•to subscribe to all places linked to the dispatcher line (he will have access to all free slots possible that are linked to the dispatcher line);

•or let free slots in only one place, dedicated to handle individual calls for this dispatcher line;

•or use a different dispatcher line for each DMR AIS place.

TPO Line

Don't forget to link a TPO line (registered or not) to the place. The turret will use the TPO line to subscribe to the TPO. Not the dispatcher line.
