This feature discusses the ability for traders to vary the nature of ring tones played by the dealer board in response to telephony events.

Traders are able to change ring tones for each shortcut/line based on the importance of the connection to the other party.  They also want ring tones to be differentiated based on how the call is presented to the dealer board i.e. direct in-coming call, transferred call, call ringing for the group.

Built-in and custom ringtones

The system comes with a relatively large number of built-in ringtones. however, if these built-in ringtones do not suit your expectations, you have the option to create your own custom ones and make them available in the turrets. To create custom ringtones, read the topic User defined Custom Ringtones and do not forget to take a look at the limitations.

Ringtone set

A ringtone set is a set of sound events each one associated to a ringtone (built-in or custom) and a type of repetition. A ringtone set can be set on a profile, a line, a shortcut, a shortcut page or a pages-shortcut (a pages-shortcut is the relation that links a shortcut to a page of shortcut). Ring tone set is optional except on a private profile where it is mandatory.

A decision algorithm is used to determine which tone set to apply (See reference SRD-PRF-SND-03.doc – section 2.1.3.4) when a call is requesting a ringtone.

Two default ringtone sets exist in the system:

•Default: The ringtones associated to events are default ringtones. This is applied to all private profile.

•Silence: All events are associated to the ringtone "silence".

Ringtone volume

When a ringtone set is defined on a profile, a shortcut… it is automatically associated to a ringtone volume. The ringtone volume determines the volume of which the ringtone set is played. The value can vary from 0 (mute) to 10 (loud). This value is optional except on a private profile where it is mandatory.

Repeat policy

Repeat policy is a part of the definition of an event. Repeat policy can have 2 values:

•Loop: the ringtone is played in loop.

•Repeat: the ringtone is played a specific number of time (XM2 is required to repeat a ringtone more that one time, see the global limitations) .
