Introduction

This section describes how to retrieve log on TSS and Embeded TSS. In case of error on one of both application it is very useful to provide these files to IP Trade support team to help to identifying and resolve problem.

TSS : Event Viewer

To activate trace logging in Window's Event Viewer, TSS Logger Setting key (System > Settings > Console Logger Settings / TSS Logger Settings) 'trace.global.targets' must contain 'eventviewer' value (by default, debug1 and debug2 level are not logged using the event viewer).

To retrieve this log contents, proceed as follows:

•Go on server that hosts TSS application

•Open Control Panel

•Open Administrative Tools

•Open Event Viewer

•Right click on Windows Logs > Application and select Save Events As... in menu

•Select destination, enter filename and press Save button.

•Display Information: Select Display informations for these languages option if necessary

TSS : File

To activate trace logging in a text file, TSS Logger Setting key (System > Settings > Console Logger Settings / TSS Logger Settings) 'trace.global.targets' must contain 'file' value. Additionally TSS Setting key 'trace.target@file.path' (Logger group) contains path where the log file is saved.

By default, the TSS is logging to the Syslog directory of the TSS. Therefore, it is possible to access these log through the Syslog list of the TSS.

It is also possible to retrieve log file through the file explorer of Windows:

•Go on server that hosts TSS application

•Open Windows Explorer

•Go to path mentioned by key 'trace.target@file.path'

•Copy files: Syslog.TSS.VERSION.log, Syslog.Console.VERSION.log and Syslog.ComponentManager.log

It's possible to define an external server for sending TSS syslog's.

Following keys must defined inside TSS logger settings section:

 trace.target@externalsyslog.type = externalsyslog

 trace.logger@default.targets = file, eventviewer, externalsyslog

 trace.global.targets = file, eventviewer, externalsyslog

 trace.logger@db.targets        = file, eventviewer, externalsyslog

 trace.target@externalsyslog.port = 514

 trace.target@externalsyslog.server = 10.221.29.161

 trace.logger@tss.targets = file, eventviewer, externalsyslog

 trace.logger@licensing.targets = file, eventviewer, externalsyslog

 trace.logger@event.targets = file, eventviewer, externalsyslog

 trace.target@externalsyslog.pattern = \t({sequenceNumber})\t({threadId})\t{category}\t{timestamp}\t{level}\t({code})\t{text}\t{exception}\t{field}

In this exemple:

•externalsyslog is the name used for defining external server

•10.221.29.161 is the ip address of external server

NOTE: Once you have added/updated the above keys in both locations you need to "Reload Application" under "System > Settings" in the TSS Console for the changes to take effect.

TSS : Database

To activate trace logging in the IPTrade database, TSS Logger Setting key (System > Settings > Console Logger Settings / TSS Logger Settings) 'trace.global.targets' must contain 'db' value (disabled by default).

To retrieve this log contents, proceed as follows:

Set the following TSS setting to true: tss.dbeventviewer.enabled

•Open TSS Console Administration.

•Go to System > Monitoring > Events

•Press Export to CSV button

•Select Period range and Level

•Press Export to CSV button

•Save file on disk
