In this typical situation, the configuration would be set to have idle calls on left loudspeaker and selected calls on right loudspeaker.
Let's say that a trader has several calls on monitor that he is listening. For now, all calls have the same priority for him, as nothing special happened, yet.
All three calls are hosted on the left physical loudspeaker.
Suddenly, the activity on two calls, Paris and London, require that the trader gives more attention to them, and thus reduces the other calls volume.
The trader then selects Paris and London, swapping them to the right loudspeaker.
He has just created a separation between the calls that are important (right now) and those that are less important.
He can now, using the hard volume button located on the loudspeaker itself, reduce the left loudspeaker volume (effecting only the second call here), so that he mainly concentrate on the two important calls.
As the situation evolves, the trader can add or remove important calls by just selecting or de-selecting them, without having to change their position on the screen.
