The ducking function brings a new mean to traders for controlling the volume of speakers’ channels.  When traders need to focus on some key counterparties, the ducking mode provides them with the capability to decrease the sound level of all other lines without having to adjust the volume of each channel individually.

This is achieved as follows

•The trader has multiple monitor applets and has them full to capacity with open lines

•The trader has volumes set specifically for certain speaker channels and changes the volume using the volume control buttons as usual

•The trader switches the ducking mode on which results in less-important lines having their volume reduced by a pre-configured amount i.e. 50 % of current volume. Ducking selection can be performed manually using a toggle button from the quick functions bar or automatically when microphone is engaged

•When the trader deactivates ducking mode, the volumes on lines return to their original settings after a small time delay i.e. 2 seconds

Ducking applies only to speakers’ channels not for calls on handsets.

Ducking mode does affect neither performance of the voice activity detection nor the quality of the corresponding recordings.
