Overview

A STD Server requires 2 additional partitions which are mandatory

Drive Letter

Volume Label

File System

Recommended Minimum Size

Description

C

N/A

NTFS

128 GB

Windows OS, Programs, ...

D

Data

NTFS

128 GB / 256 GB (DBMS locally Installed)

SQL data, IIS data, FTP, ...

F

Logs

NTFS

128 GB

TSS logs, syslogs, ...

DBMS = Database Management System (MySQL / MSSQL)

The CD-ROM drive letter must be changed to allow the above drive letters (It will likely be using one of the drive letters above on a fresh install)

To Create the partitioning table

Proceed as follows:

partitioning_01

•Click "Computer Management (Local) > Storage > Disk Management"

•Right-click on "CD-ROM0", and select "Change drive letter and paths..."

partitioning_02

•Click "Change", then in the next box, in the drop-down select the drive letter "X" and press "OK"

partitioning_03

•Click "Yes" to the warning message to complete the CD Driver letter change

partitioning_04

•Right click on the unallocated space of your disk, and select "New Simple Volume..."

partitioning_05

•Click "Next"

partitioning_06

•First we created the D:\(Data) drive\partition, enter in the size of the disk and Click "Next"

In this example we are creating a D:\(Data) drive\partition with a minimum recommenced size of 256 GB (for local DBMS install)

(256GB x 1024MB = 262144MB)

partitioning_07

•Make sure the drive letter selection is "D" and then Click "Next"

partitioning_08

•Make sure the "File system = NTFS" and the "Volume label = Data" and Click "Next"

partitioning_09

•Finally Click "Finish" to create the D:\(Data) drive\partition

partitioning_10

•Once again, Right click on the unallocated space of your disk, and select "New Simple Volume..."

partitioning_11

•Click "Next"

partitioning_06

•We now create the F:\(Logs) drive\partition, enter in the size (128 GB in this case) of the disk and Click "Next"

partitioning_12

•Make sure the drive letter selection is "F" and then Click "Next"

partitioning_13

•Make sure the "File system = NTFS" and the "Volume label = Logs" and Click "Next"

partitioning_14

•Finally Click "Finish" to create the F:\(Logs) drive\partition

partitioning_15

•Drive partitioning is complete and you should have something similar to this
