Media streaming to turrets

Solution Integration

Turrets provide traders with the capability to view and to listen to streamed video, TV or radio content from their desk: the video feed is rendered on the turret screen – in a dedicated applet or in the central area –, the audio can be directed to one of the external speakers or to a handset/headset. Multiple channels can be programmed in each trader’s profile and can be accessed on demand, although only one channel can be viewed at a time.

Technology-wise, video/audio sources must be reachable by turrets throughout the corporate IP network or the Internet.  Traditional broadcasted TV channels can also be distributed to traders using IP video encoding solutions supplied by companies like VBricks Systems, Inc. or others.

Supported formats for streamed media content include all formats supported by libVLC 3.0.8.

The Turret also support live stream and videos from (but not limited to) :

•YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/)

•Anevia (https://anevia.com/)

•BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/)

•Dailymotion (https://www.dailymotion.com/)

As the live stream access depend of the owner of the site (example: Google for Youtube), we cannot guarantee that all videos will always reachable.

Decoding performances may be limited by turret hardware, see Limitations for details.

The turrets also allow listening to raw audio-only multicast streams. See Multicast audio stream.

Using Media streaming on another device than the internal IEI speaker with XMA needs a specific configuration called "XMA2 USB Audio Bridge".

More information about that can be found here
