To restrict the amount of memory used to store the log files, a log rotation mechanism is in place. This is triggered by the log file growing to a size that is pre-configured according to what the log file is used for. The log rotation mechanism moves the existing log file to a file with the same name and with “.1” appended to it. The process that uses it is then signalled to start a new log. If the “.1” file already exists it is moved to .2 and so on. The last file is deleted. The Turret Application log file is rotated after it reaches 6Mb and is kept for one rotation so a maximum of 12Mb could be available.
