Let’s consider the following example: a transmitter and a receiver are connected to a computer with the WPTT manager running.

GUI-Pairing-Auto-Reciever

GUI-Pairing-Auto-Transmitter

Considering the information provided by those screen-shots:

RECEIVER

TRANSMITTER

Device address

67174738

50397509

Volatile pairing address

4112436710

50397522

Permanent pairing address

67174725

50397522

In this state, the devices are not paired. For this example, we will use the volatile pairing button in attempt to associate those devices.

At this point, the Unplug to apply pairing check box must be explained:

When the WPTT will be used with IPTrade Turrets, users will pick up a random transmitter and will have to associate this transmitter with his Turret’s receiver. To do so, the user will just have to connect the transmitter to the Turret to start the pairing process. Once done, the user will be asked to unplug the transmitter to apply the pairing configuration.

Any modification in the pairing addresses configuration requires a reset of the transmitter. This reset can be done by unplugging the transmitter or by sending a reset message to it. The check box can be used to choose one of those methods.

If the check box is checked, the user will be asked to unplug the transmitter to reset it. If not checked, the reset operation will be performed automatically without requiring the device to be unplugged (which can be useful for testing purposes).

Important notices:

•Any reset operation takes at least 10 seconds. During this time span, the device may not respond and shall not be unplugged/plugged again.

•During this same delay, the device may appear OFFLINE for a few seconds, then ONLINE again. Do not plug/unplug any device during the 10 seconds period.

•Also, please note that any plug/unplug of a device mays take a few seconds to be noticed by the application. Always wait for the application to detect that the device has been plugged/unplugged.

•In order to catch the PTT messages, the WPTT Manager must have the focus (be the active window).

Please note that the receiver also requires a reset when its pairing addresses are modified. This reset is done automatically. As the receiver does not have a battery, it shall not be unplugged during the reset period. Unplugging the receiver during the reset operation could lead to permanent damage on this device. The receiver device will appear OFFLINE for a few seconds after its reset then will appear back ONLINE.

Back to our example, we use the Pair devices (Volatile) button with the Unplug to apply pairing unchecked. After the 10 seconds reset period, the devices are shown as Ready for a link with the following addresses:

RECEIVER

TRANSMITTER

Device address

67174738

50397509

Volatile pairing address

50397509

67174738

Permanent pairing address

67174725

50397522

As we can see, the addresses are cross-matching the devices volatile pairing addresses. You may ask yourself why the devices statuses are still Ready for a link while the pairing addresses are good. The reason is that the receiver and the transmitter must exchange at least one message to recognize themselves as paired. If we use the PTT button, we can see the green tile changing to yellow. As soon as we release the button, the tile goes back to green.

Now we can use the refresh button to update the devices statuses. Our devices are now marked as Networked linked.
