TPO Static Links

Trading and C&C > Turret Proxy To Open communication (TPO)

More than a feature by itself, TPO Static Links brings the ability to use some of the TPO features (see Limitations) in a distributed way among different geographical sites.

Purpose

The main purpose of this feature is reducing bandwidth consumption between geographically distant premises. Until now, when Singapore traders wanted to connect London’s Private Wires, all trader turrets had to individually connect the London’s TPO. For a single DDI Slot, there were as many calls as there were Singapore’s Traders. This feature reduces the number of site to site calls to only one call per DDI Slot.

This feature drastically reduces site to site bandwidth consumption.

Vocabulary

Here we introduce a few terms that are used to describe the different elements in these sections.

Master place

This is a RingdownDynamic place that is pointed by slave places which make it available on other TPOs. The master place contains the entire original configuration. It communicates with pointing slave places through an R-Link.

Slave place

This is a place that only points to a master place. It offers to turret the same features as the master place but on another TPO. It behaves in accordance to the Master place properties with a few exceptions.

Distributed place

Conceptual object made up of the Master place and all Slave places which point it.

R-Link

The static link created between two TPOs to inter-connect a slave place to its master place. It sustains all the communications between the slave place and its master place.
