There is way for you to test a TPO, Hot Backup / Failover Scenario.

Only these way are supported:
 

•Physically disconnecting the TPO (unplug Ethernet cable).

 

•VM power off

 

•Nic disconnect from ESXI. Do not disable NIC from inside VM. TPO must be rebooted before NIC reconnected to avoid split brain

 

•Killing the TPO Process by using the command taskkill /F /IM tpo.exe

 

 

After any failover testing it is advised to cluster reset before going into production.
