Networking > Wideband audio codecs support

The narrow band audio codecs (G711 A-law, G711 U-law and iLBC) have the audio signal in the range of 300 - 3400 Hz.

The wide band audio codecs provide improved speech quality  due to the wider speech bandwidth of 50 - 7000 Hz.

The following wide band audio codecs are integrated to IPTrade products:

•G722

G.722 is an ITU-T standard wide band audio codec operating at 48, 56 and 64 kbit/s.

It’s a patent free codec and it works at 16000 Hz.

There are other wide band codecs include G.722.1 and G722.2 which are not variants of G.722. G.722.1 and G.722.2 use different patented compression technologies.

Only the no patented codec G.722 is supported.

•L16

L16 means Linear PCM 16 bit audio. It is the uncompressed audio data samples using 16 bit signed equally divided steps between minimum and maximum signal level, ranging from -32,768 to 32,767.
