TPO Virtualization |

| IT&Operations > Virtualization |
Although TPO has real time constraints, it is now possible to virtualize it using VMWare ESX server.
No support could be provided on free VMWare versions or other virtualization tools.
Administrator should always bear in mind the number of packets per second that a single physical NIC will have to process in a virtualized environment. If multiple TPO are stacked on a same blade/NIC with others virtual machines, administrators may experiences some audio issues due to the fact that NIC are probably struggled and the jitter/packetloss may then start increasing. Best tests results are obtained on Cisco UCS where network considerations are a main concern.
Also notice that TPO is available in virtual appliance format (.ova file), see there.
If TPO is not deployed using the ova file, it is strongly recommended to - install vmware tools on the guest OS - use a vmxnet2/3 network adapter for performance reasons |
