When placing certain outbound calls, the IPTrade Console / Turret operator sometimes needs to send DTMF digits on the calls in order to access some IVR systems (like voicemail systems, automatic call answering machines, etc).
Such a DTMF sequence is required to be sent once the call is established, in order to identify the user or select an option in a voice menu, for instance.
Previously, the operators had to manually enter these DTMF digit sequences using the virtual keypad provided on the console interface.
DTMFs in call keys feature refers to the ability to store a DTMF sequence in a call key's extension. When dialling this call key, the system automatically generates the associated DTMF sequence on the call once it is established.
Depending on gateway used, DTMFs are not always sent via RTP stream. To solve this problem, DTMFs can be sent over SIP. IPTrade DTMF supports RFC2833 and KPML.
While RFC2833 can be supported by most PBX, DTMF over SIP (KPML) is supported only over Cisco although Cisco also support RFC2833 too.
