Note that there is a dedicated chapter about call park over DDI lines.
Call park feature allows an end-user to put an opened call on hold at one turret and to continue the conversation from any other telephone connected to the same soft-switch. Call park feature proceeds as follows •Use park function to park a call opened on a handset; •Turret application requests soft-switch to park the call; •Soft-switch moves the call from turret to an internal extension that has been allocated dynamically. This extension is referred as the park number. At this point, the call is no more present on the turret and is kept opened on the soft-switch. Remote party can hear music-on-hold if configured; •Soft-switch provides the turret application with the park number which is then shown to the end-user; The end-user can then move to any other turret or any IP-based phone connected on the same soft-switch to retrieve the call. This operation is achieved by simply dialing the park number of the desired phone. On Cisco PBX, if no one picks up the call after a pre-configured time, soft-switches may ring back the parked call and transfer it back to the extension who originally parked the call. |
